This one involves the kidlet. Sometimes, the love that I have for Cameron wells up inside of me and is so overwhelming I feel like I'm going to be sick and choke on it. In a good way. That sounds weird. But it is palpable to me. Last night was one of those nights.
Our nighttime routine is probably happening all over the country at the same time. It is nothing really unique. Diaper change, pjs, stories, bed. Sometimes I sing a Beatles tune. But usually that is the drill. Last night she picked out "Moo, Baa, La, La, La", a Sandra Boynton classic (I hear parents sighing loudly as I type that). But this night was different. I always make all the sounds. It IS my job after all. But this time it wasn't a solo; it was a duet. SHE mooed. SHE baaahed. SHE la-la-laaaaed. And of course meowed when it came to the cat part (but that is nothing new, the girl is obsessed with meowing). The end cracked me up because I said "the horse says…" and paused so she could fill in the sound and she looked up and me and said with a question in her voice "moo?" and then repeated my "neigh" when I told her.
Every day it is something new, and this day was no different. New word today was shell. And tofu. That's just how we do things around here.
