"The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself."
~A. Quindlen
I have known for a long time that I'm not perfect. The first time I tripped over my own feet and scraped my entire face (forehead to chin in a formidable stripe) in the alley behind our house on University, I became even more aware of this. In college when we were supposed to pick 5 adjectives to describe ourselves and I jokingly said, "Grace!" while throwing my arm to the side dramatically and nearly taking out our waitress…glaringly obviously not perfect. Clumsy, creative, befuddled, intelligent, loving, and lots of other adjectives could be used to describe me, but I'd never use "perfect."
And you know what, that's ok. Because no one is perfect. We all have bad days. We all have days where we wish we could take back something we said in anger or frustration. Or we go to sleep at night thinking about what we should have said to someone when no words came to mind in the moment.
When I go to sleep, I feel content if I can say that I am becoming a more confident ME.
