Very little about the last year has been familiar. I have been a leaf on the wind (like Wash...). Not a hobo as one of my friends put it and then corrected, but a nomad of sorts. I am not a nomad by choice but rather a situational rolling stone gathering no moss.
I want to settle down. It is just complicated. The dramatic nature of life since last October has not afforded us the time, energy or finances to be able to do that yet. But now I can almost taste it. When we do get our own place I am pretty sure I will want to have a humongous housewarming party for us but will probably not know anyone yet to invite! Party of two sounds kind of amazing anyway at the moment.
All that to say, familiarity and time with family is like a comfy sweatshirt in the back of your closet you forgot about but can't believe you ever stopped wearing. And I am loving it. Home is wherever we are, and we are here!
